The first British Olympics took place in White City. The main stadium events happened between 13th and 25th July.
On July 24th the Marathon race, which determined the length of all future marathons, was run between Windsor castle and the stadium.

WHITE CITY CELEBRATES ITS 100TH ANNIVERSARY
The gates of the Franco-British Exhibition opened on May 14th 1908.
BBC TV Centre Exhibition
Exhibition of photos of White City on the windows of BBC TV Centre, Wood Lane - open 24 hours. A short film is on view in the BBC foyer during working hours. BBC's Newsnight have set up a web page and blog about the history of White City.
